One of the most common skincare needs in the Spring and Summer is a cleanser to reduce excess oil on people’s faces and neck. Furthermore, many of us are more active in the warmer months, with more outdoor activities, from gardening to basketball to walking in your neighborhood, so our skin needs a more aggressive cleanser.
But all facial and neck cleansers are not equal. In my own Dermatology practice, since 1993, I’ve been counseling people on cleansers tailored to the level of oil in their skin. And in 2016, I became the president of a company to manufacture and distribute organic and natural skincare products, including cleansers.
Let’s take a look at some cleanser options for people with oily skin, combination skin, and dry skin.
Reasonable choices for cleansers for people with oily skin include Neutrogena° Bar Soap, Sulfur Soap, and Basis° Soap. But many of my patients over the last 26 years have had really oily skin, and excess oiliness contributes to the development of many skin conditions, including acne and folliculitis, and even a condition called hidradenitis suppurativa, with nodules and scarring under the arms and in the groin.
So in 2016 I started manufacturing a special cleanser – called Ambersoy° Soap Gel – for these people with oily skin. It’s made from Tennessee-grown soybean oil, with some of the purest natural water in the United States, from the Memphis Aquifer. It has no parabens, no formaldehyde, no dyes, and no sulfates.
AmberSoy Soap Gel comes in Mint, Lemon, and No Fragrance Added, in 1 oz ($12.95), 2 oz ($18.95), and 8 oz ($59.95). It’s distinctive because it’s one of the few cleanser gels available commercially in the United States, most of the cleanser products either being bar soaps or liquid clensers. So AmberSoy Soap Gel is convenient to use as a facial and neck “mask,” whereby it’s applied, then left on the skin for 5-10 minutes, before rinsing it off, for a really deep clean.
For more detail, check out the short movie under the Cleansers tab at www.Bigriversilkskincare.com. You can also find it on Youtube, if you do a search under “AmberSoy Soap Gel.”
AmberSoy Soap Gel is available for pick-up at our company headquarters, at 8143 Walnut Grove Road, Cordova TN 38018, Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, or for order from www.Bigriversilkskincare.com ($5.00 shipping cost for orders under $40.01). It’s well-suited for both people with oily skin and those with combination skin.
Options for cleansers for people with drier facial and neck skin include Cetaphil° Bar and Cetaphil° Liquid Cleanser, Cerave°, Dove for Sensitive Skin°, and Purpose° Facial Cleanser. Big River Silk Skincare Inc. also distributes two really helpful fragrance-free cleansers for people with dry skin: Vanicream° Bar Soap ($3.95) and Vanicream° Gentle Facial Cleanser ($11.95). Vanicream is really helpful because it’s what we call “hypoallergenic,” meaning that it’s less likely to cause any type of allergic reaction, being free of fragrances, dyes, sulfates, formaldehyde, and sulfates.
