After 25 years practicing Dermatology, I designed a moisturizer product called the GlycoShea® Creams to incorporate the moisturizing effectiveness of Shea Butter with the exfoliation benefits of Glycolic Acid, or GA, an Alpha-Hydroxy Acid that smooths the appearance of fine lines in the skin, making the GlycoShea Creams into Anti-wrinkle Creams, through release of dead cells from the skin surface.
The skin of humans consists of three layers – the epidermis, which is the thin, outermost layer; the dermis, which is the thicker, stronger middle layer; and the subcutaneous layer, which is where the body stores fat. The outermost layer – the epidermis – is constantly replenishing new cells, and our skin sheds or “exfoliates” dead cells. Exfoliation is the removal of these old dead skin cells, similar to the process whereby trees “exfoliate” or shed their dead leaves in the autumn.
A lot of careful thought went into the design of the GlycoShea Creams. I pulled upon 25 years of taking care of people with hand and body eczema. Being a member of the American Contact Dermatitis Society, I decided to keep this new product “hypoallergenic” by avoiding preservatives like formaldehyde. I picked a preservative that’s considered quite low risk for allergic reactions, and I avoided any dyes and any fragrances.
GlycoShea Hand and Body Cream is available in two strengths and three sizes: Standard Strength and High Strength (Standard Strength:1 oz ($19.95); 2 oz ($29.95); 8 oz ($89.95)). High Strength: 1 oz ($29.95); 2 oz ($44.95); 8 oz ($134.95). GlycoShea Facial&Neck Cream: 1oz: $39.95/2 oz: $59.95;8 oz: $179.95.
