Exfoliating Your Way to a New You with the GlycoShea Creams

GlycoShea™ Facial&Neck Cream, GlycoShea™ Hand&Body Cream/Standard Strength, and GlycoShea™ Hand&Body Cream/High Strength are based upon a blend or emulsion of a botanical moisturizer - Shea Butter - with some of the purest natural water in the United States: water from the Memphis Sands. The Dermatologists at Big River Silk™ Skincare Inc. then blend this mixture with an Glycolic Acid, an Alpha-Hydroxy Agent originally discovered in sugarcane and pineapple.

So what’s all the hype about “exfoliation of your skin,” and why would you want to promote exfoliation?

Your skin is actually somewhat like a tree. Trees grow new leaves, either every Spring, if they’re deciduous trees, or year-round, if they’re evergreen trees. Deciduous trees then lose these leaves in the Autumn, through “exfoliation,” i.e. they “exfoliate,” and then they start to develop new leaves for the next Spring. Evergreen trees are constantly exfoliating, i.e. they are losing leaves and growing new leaves year-round, just like your skin is growing new cells.

So your skin is somewhat like an evergreen tree – because it’s constantly replenishing old cells in the “epidermis,” the outer layer of the skin, and then releasing old dead cells from its exterior surface. As you grow older, this “exfoliation” gets into a longer and longer cell cycle, and exposure to the sun and tanning salon radiation can lead to what’s called “photoaging,” with wrinkles, splotchiness of color, and roughness of the skin surface.

Fortunately, some years ago Dermatologists found that certain plant-derived chemicals, called Alpha-Hydroxy Acids or AHAs, could promote easier exfoliation by the skin, thereby allowing new cells to develop quicker. One such AHA is Glycolic Acid, originally discovered in sugarcane and pineapple. Though it’s currently made synthetically, its origins are certainly organic and natural. Glycolic Acid is the active agent in Big River Silk Skincare’s GlycoShea Creams, the agent that smooths the appearance of fine lines, while improving skin texture and color. So the GlycoShea Creams could be called Anti-wrinkle Creams because of their Alpha-Hydroxy Acid ingredient.

At Big River Silk Skincare Inc., we manufacture the GlycoShea Creams in-house, allowing us to avoid emulsifying chemicals such as propylene glycolic and sodium lauryl sulfate. The creams are also free of fragrance, of dyes, of parabens, of formaldehyde, and of sulfates. Our company logo is Science Simplifying Skincare™, so our Dermatologists avoid ingredients that are not necessary, while including what is helpful. And the thickness of these creams means that they don’t have to be applied more than several times a day, saving both time and money.

News flash: We are losing one American life every 54 minutes to a type of skin cancer called melanoma. Don’t delay. Get checked today: because early detection definitely saves lives. You may wish to check out the movie that Rheumatology and Dermatology sponsored in 2018, on Youtube's SkinStayWell Channel: “Understanding the Melanoma Crisis: Scarlet’s Story.” Scarlet Akins found out that she had melanoma while pregnant, and she had to decide between chemotherapy and having the baby. But I’ll warn you: watching it may change your life.
