A Radiant Smile for Summer 2021: Big River Silk Skincare
Exfoliation is the natural process whereby our skin renews itself, working against premature skin aging and wrinkling from sun exposure. As a Dermatologist, I spend a fair amount of my day helping patients deal with prior sun damage.
Here are a couple of my ideas from 30 years of practicing as a Board-certified Memphis Dermatologist, , on keeping your skin more wrinkle-free, with better tone and texture:
The first and most important measure is to limit exposure to ultraviolet light from the sun and from tanning salons: stay out of the sun, and use a “broad spectrum sunscreen” with an SPF of at least 30. But many of us have had too much prior sun exposure, promoting premature wrinkling and roughness. Fortunately, ongoing research in Dermatology has shown that a category of chemicals called AHAs or “Alpha-hydroxy Acids” promotes exfoliation in your skin, helping to even out skin color and also to reduce the appearance of fine lines in the skin, making AHAs into effective anti-wrinkle creams.
The AHA that penetrates into the skin the most easily is Glycolic Acid, because it’s the smallest molecule among the AHAs.
