As a Memphis Dermatologist since 1993, I have spent a fair amount of my career helping patients deal with Atopic Dermatitis and Eczema. Eczema or Atopic Dermatitis is a type of genetically sensitive skin condition that tends to run in families along with asthma, hay fever, and food allergies. It often starts in childhood but sometimes in adulthood, and it can involve the arms and legs, the chest and back, and even sometimes the face and scalp. Often itchy and sore, it can become a real skin problem in the Autumn when the drier winter air tends to cause people to start itching and developing rashes.

Dermatologists like myself have a growing armamentarium of increasingly effective topical (meaning for use on top of the skin) and oral (meaning taken by mouth or by a shot) medications to manage Eczema or Atopic Dermatitis.
