Big River Silk Skincare's GlycoShea for Eczema and Psoriasis

by Memphis Dermatologist George Woodbury MD 12/28/2022

Big River Silk Skincare’s GlycoShea® Creams contain an anti-wrinkle agent called Glycolic Acid, an AHA or Alpha-Hydroxy Acid, the ingredient that evens out the color of your skin, smoothing the appearance of fine lines. I became the President of Big River Silk in 2016, incorporating ideas from my 25 years of practice as a Memphis Dermatologist, making these exfoliating moisturizers available not only in Tennessee but also nationally. So what’s the scoop on the GlycoShea creams?

The key ingredient of the GlycoShea Creams, Glycolic Acid, was originally discovered in fruits, such as pineapple, and in sugarcane, promoting what’s called skin exfoliation, meaning that it helps the older, dead skin cells to be released from the skin surface, allowing newer cells to come in from the deeper layer, with more even skin color, an improvement in skin texture and tone. The result is effective anti-wrinkle creams.

The GlycoShea Creams are “organic” because they incorporate carbon atoms, particularly through their Shea Butter, coming from the Shea African tree. Shea nuts have been used by the peoples of the African Sahel region as both a moisturizer and even a foodstuff for hundreds of years, with a long safety track record. All Shea nuts come from naturally-occurring Shea trees, some of which are over 100 years old, since Shea trees have never been successfully grown in farms.

The GlycoShea Creams are well suited to help people with hand eczema and psoriasis. The fall and winter are always trying times for people with skin conditions, and the good news is that advances in Dermatology research have led to many advances in treatment: newer potent steroid creams and ointments, oral JAK inhibitors, and topical steroid-free creams. My own Memphis Dermatology practice has been with Rheumatology and Dermatology, www.Rheumderm.com, 8143 Walnut Grove Road, Cordova TN 38018 for over 30 years (1-901-753-0168). Or you can find a Board-certified Dermatologist closer to you by going to the American Academy of Dermatology’s web site, then plugging your zip code into the “Find a Dermatologist” tab.

The GlycoShea Creams are remarkable not only for what they do contain, but also for what they do not contain: no fragrances, dyes, sulfates, propylene glycol, and no formaldehyde nor parabens. And Big River Silk Skincare’s Dermatologists designed the GlycoShea Creams to be hypoallergenic, meaning minimal risk of dermatitis to people with sensitive skin.

And the good news is that Big River Silk Skincare’s GlycoShea Creams are now available for pick-up at our company headquarters at 8143 Walnut Grove Road, Cordova TN 38018, Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM (901-753-0168). The GlycoShea Creams are also available for order across the United States and Canada from Big River Silk Skincare’s website: www.Bigriversilkskincare.com :

GlycoShea Hand&Body Cream/High Strength: 1 oz ($29.95 ), 2 oz ($44.95 ), 8 oz ($159.95)

And if your skin condition is in an angry phase, with itching, burning, or even fissuring, consider using a hypoallergenic alternative moisturizer, HypoShea Moisturizer Cream, which has all the benefits of Shea Butter moisturizer but without any sulfates or acids.

HypoShea Moisturizer Cream: 1 ounce ($12.95), 2 oz ($18.95), and 8 oz ($39.95).

Big River Silk Skincare’s Dermatologists also manufacture and distribute an organic skin cleanser – Ambersoy® Soap Gel - which works well in combination with GlycoShea Facial&Neck Cream. We use purified Tennessee soybean oil blended with Memphis Sands water, with only mild preservatives, and no propylene glycol nor formadehyde.

AmberSoy is one of the few soap gels commercially available in the United States, allowing users to obtain a very deep clean. It can be used as a simple cleanser, or as a “face and neck mask,” whereby it’s applied, then left one for 3-5 minutes, before rinsing. AmberSoy is available in Mint, in Lemon, and in NFA (No Fragrance Added).
